Producer Information
Shirvington is a South Australian wine producer, with vineyards in the McLaren Vale region but based just south of the region, in the Fleurieu Peninsula. It harvested its first crop of fruit in 1999, and today specializes in making red wines based on the Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz wine grape varieties from its two vineyards, Redwind and Manjalda. The Redwind vineyard enjoys a Mediterranean climate of warm summers and moderate, wet winters. The vineyard is planted to a combination of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Mataro (MourvÚdre) grape varieties that form the basis of the estate's two single-vineyard Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon wines. The Manjalda vineyard is devoted to the growth of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Grenache grape varieties. The vines are planted at a slightly higher elevation to the Red wind vineyard, although it has a broadly similar climate. In addition to its two single-vineyard varietal wines, Shirvington also produces a single-block Shiraz wine (Block 9), as well as Cabernet Sauvignon- and Shiraz-based wines made from a blend of fruit sourced from several vineyard blocks. The winery also produces the Row x Row label, established in 2017, which includes varietal Fiano, Riesling and Mataro wines as well as a rosé. A new winery was built in 2019, processing its first grapes in the 2020 vintage. A new cellar door opened in 2021.
