Distillery Information
Château Brane-Cantenac is a Second Growth estate from the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, located in the Margaux appellation and owned by the Lurton family since 1922. The estate is known for producing wines that emphasize elegance, finesse, and aromatic complexity rather than power. Baron de Brane serves as the estate’s second wine, made from selected plots and younger vines to provide earlier accessibility while maintaining the house style. The vineyards are planted on gravel-rich soils typical of Margaux, supporting Cabernet Sauvignon dominance alongside Merlot and minor varieties. Winemaking combines traditional Bordeaux methods with modern precision, including fermentation in stainless steel and aging in French oak barrels, resulting in wines that balance structure, freshness, and long-term aging potential.
