      Producer Information

King Estate Winery is an Oregon winery in the Willamette Valley best known for its Pinot Gris. Its entire catalogue of wine is fairly large and includes other popular state varieties such as Pinot Noir, Riesling, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The estate was established in 1991, after Ed King Jr and his son Ed King III had bought a 418 hectare (1033 acre) cattle farm. They planted the property with 450 hectares (1112 acres) of vines and have farmed it strictly using organic practices since. In the mid 2000s, it was one of the largest single-block organic vineyards in the world. Most fruit for King Estate's wines come from this vineyard and the surrounding Willamette Valley, but it sources fruit from the Columbia Valley and the greater Oregon area as well. King Estate was one of the early promoters of Pinot Gris in Oregon, where it has since become the second-most planted variety behind Pinot Noir. Almost two thirds of the estate vineyards are planted to the variety, with the next significant grape being Pinot Noir. The winery produces around 350,000 cases of wine a year.
