The packaging is intended as a collector’s item, while the whisky inside remains accessible and familiar to fans of light blended Scotch.

Nose: Soft honeyed sweetness, floral heather tones, subtle spice, and a gentle malt character.

Palate: Light vanilla, red apple, some toffee and milk chocolate, clean cereal grains, and a gentle wisp of smoke.

Finish: Fresh and floral, mild spice, lingering sweetness, smooth and easy-going.

Distillery Information

Ballantine’s has its roots in Dumbarton, Scotland, where the brand has built its reputation over almost two centuries by blending many malt and grain whiskies to deliver balance and consistency. The blend is known for using “fingerprint malts” such as Miltonduff and Glenburgie among a large number of component whiskies. The “Finest” expression has no age statement; the blend is matured in oak casks and distilled whiskies must age at least the minimum legal period for Scotch. The brand often releases limited edition bottles partnering with artists or creative figures, preserving the standard blend but changing the presentation. This Gorillaz edition is one such collaboration, featuring new artwork by Jamie Hewlett and part of Ballantine’s “True Music Icons” series. Despite the artistic redesign, the whisky inside retains the flavor profile that regular drinkers of Ballantine’s Finest will recognize.
