Bernheim Original | Batch B526 | Barrel Proof Wheat Whiskey | 2026 Release Tasting Notes
Nose: Fresh baked bread, honey, caramel, toasted oak, and baking spice with hints of vanilla and brown butter.
Palate: Rich and silky with butterscotch, wheat sweetness, cinnamon, clove spice, and layered caramel balanced by warm oak influence.
Finish: Long and warming with lingering honey, toasted grain, soft pepper spice, and sweet oak notes.
Distillery Information
Heaven Hill Distillery introduced Bernheim Original in 2005, widely recognized as one of the first major modern American wheat whiskeys released after Prohibition. Unlike bourbon, which must contain at least 51% corn, Bernheim’s mashbill uses winter wheat as the dominant grain, giving the whiskey a softer and creamier texture. The Barrel Proof series, first launched nationally in 2023, expanded the brand into a more enthusiast-focused category by presenting the whiskey at natural cask strength with batches typically aged between seven and nine years.
