La Bota No 124 Fino Un fino que va para Amontillado Navazos reveals a pale straw color, with a pronounced aroma of almonds and sea breeze. The palate is dry, featuring elements of green olives and hints of citrus peel. There’s a subtle nuttiness that develops, typical of the biological aging process before the wine transitions toward the qualities of an Amontillado. The finish is crisp, leaving a lingering salinity that invites another sip.

      Producer Information

Equipo Navazos is a well-regarded Spanish private enterprise known for its single-cask bottlings of Sherries and wines predominantly from wineries in Jerez and Manzanilla regions of Andalucia. Its generally one-off bottlings, called botas, are accompanied by a chronologically allocated number and the location and/or name of the winery. The group also produces a number of wines and spirits by itself or in collaboration with other producers. The concept was formulated in the early 2000s when Sherry aficionados JesĂșs BarquĂn and Eduardo Ojeda came across a series of forgotten barrels (botas, in Spanish) of 20 year-old Amontillado in the cellars of SĂĄnchez Ayala in SanlĂșcar de Barrameda. Banding together with friends and wine trade insiders, they bottled a first run of the wine (labeled La Bota de Amontillado N°1) in 2005, distributing it back to their supporters. The enterprise and name grew from there. The bota series has since passed the 100-mark and includes sherries of all hues, covering PX, Palo Cortado, Oloroso, Fino and Manzanilla and Manzanilla Pasada wines. Other special-run botas include Gin, malt and grain whiskies, cream sherry, rum, and brandy.
