Distillery Information
Strathclyde was founded in Glasgow in 1927 by London distiller Seager Evans, on the site of an old cotton mill in the Gorbals. It was originally built to produce neutral grain spirit for gin, before moving into Scotch whisky after Seager Evans bought the Long John brand in 1936. The distillery later gained an unusual extra chapter in its history when the Kinclaith malt distillery operated within the same site from 1957 to 1975.
